The Knappensteig Alm is a popular year-round destination in the mountain world of Polster, TAC, and Leobener Mauer. In the summer, regional delicacies, homemade pastries, and the sunny terrace with a magnificent mountain panorama invite you to enjoy.
The Knappensteig Alm is open year-round and presents itself in its most beautiful form depending on the season. While it is known in winter as a popular stop for winter sports enthusiasts, in summer it invites hikers, mountaineers, and cyclists to take a cozy break amidst the impressive mountain scenery around Polster, TAC, and the Leobener Mauer.
The menu features hearty mountain hut specialties such as Bernese with roasted bacon potatoes, sausage salad, Frankfurt sausages, and new a rustic platter. There are also vegetarian dishes and homemade pastries for a delicious variety. Coffee, regional drinks, and cool refreshments are served alongside.
New starting in the summer season 2026, an Alm breakfast will also be offered. This is available for groups of four or more and only by prior arrangement and provides the perfect start to an adventurous day in the mountains.
The Knappensteig Alm is an ideal starting or ending point for hikes and climbing tours and delights with its sunny location and a magnificent panoramic view extending far into the south.
Summer opening hours 2026: July to November, Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m..
Good to know: Access by bicycle or e-bike is permitted. The forest road leads directly to the Alm and is partially steep. Please be considerate of hikers and local traffic.

At 03:45 PM the hut and terrace will be closed.
