Home and Class Museum Tragöß

The focus of his collections is on objects from the rural world of life as well as working tools of the craftsmen active in Tragöß. The small building belonging to the inn "Gasthof zur Post" in the town center was established as a museum in 1990.

The ground floor showcases models of the Calvary Chapel and the church in Pichl, illustrating the life, living, and working of farmers up to the early 20th century. The good room and the smoke kitchen appear as if they have just been left. In the year 2000, the previously unused sleeping room was also set up as an exhibition space.

The externally accessible upper floor presents a clearly structured cross-section through the trades and industries of the Tragößer valley. The work situations of farmers, shoemakers, tailors, binders, carpenters, blacksmiths, and basket makers are vividly recreated. There are also insights into forestry and hunting, which are significant in this valley closure. Additionally, a woodcutter's hut has been recreated on a small scale, and the working tools of the woodcutters are also on display.

The water wheel in the entrance area is a testament to the rich milling landscape here in the gorge. Unfortunately, not a single one of these mills is still intact. However, there is a reconstructed mill at a private fish farm that can be viewed upon request.
