City Theater Leoben
Leoben
From the beginning, it was a theater by citizens for citizens and was financed by the population and operated for charitable purposes. In the 19th century, the house evolved into an important cultural venue with its own ensemble and numerous premieres of well-known works.
After flourishing times around 1900, economic crises, wars, and political changes led to setbacks. Nevertheless, the theater remained an important cultural meeting point and was revitalized after 1945. Since the 1970s, it has mainly been used for guest performances.
Today, the Stadttheater Leoben is an established stage for plays, operettas, musicals, and cabaret. In addition to guest productions, initiatives like the "Junge Bühne Leoben" provide a diverse program. The theater has 283 seats and 105 standing places.
