Bienengarten in Edelsbach bei Feldbach
Edelsbach
In the bee garden Edelsbach the whole spectrum around bee, honey and nature is covered.
The bee garden in Edelsbach near Feldbach is fully dedicated to the world of bees and honey production. Initiated by three beekeepers from the Thermal & Volcano Land region, the bee garden combines knowledge transfer, craftsmanship, and nature observation in one location.
On an area of about 2,500 square meters designed in the shape of a honeycomb, over 20,000 flowering plants thrive. Visitors gain insights into the life of bees and the annual cycle of beekeeping - from the development of a bee colony to honey harvesting. The offer is complemented by the Academy in the bee garden, which focuses on information about bees, honey, and beekeeping.
Beekeeping Frühwirth has been run by the family for three generations. Manfred Frühwirth made beekeeping his main profession in 1988. Today, the family takes care of around 300 bee colonies, some of which are located in the bee garden itself - among other things for breeding purposes. Additional colonies are situated within a radius of up to 110 kilometers, from southern Burgenland to the Wechsel region. Several honey varieties are produced from the harvested honey, which are carefully processed and bottled.
A special experience for visitors is the direct contact with the bees: During guided tours, life inside the beehive is vividly explained and made tangible.
In the associated honey shop, various types of honey and bee products such as propolis, royal jelly, pollen, beeswax candles, honey wine, and honey schnapps are offered.
The showcase garden will reopen in mid-April.
Opening hours of the farm shop:
Wed to Sun from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
