A cozy, shady forest hike, past a waterfall to the Zimitzalm with a stop in an alpine hut. The circular route continues via the Schweiberalm.

AThe hike to the Zimitzalm combines gentle ascents, rustic alpine pastures and impressive waterfalls - a real hiking experience for nature lovers. The route leads along the Zimitz stream, below the Reichenstein, to the idyllic Zimitzalm. The way back via the Gößler Schwaiberalm and the district of Schachen offers a varied circular hike with wonderful panoramic views.

From the Murbodenhüttl, walk back about 50 meters and turn right onto the forest path after the Zimitz bridge. The marked hiking trail runs above the Zimitz stream in a northerly direction. After around 1.5 kilometers, you have the opportunity to descend to an impressive waterfall. Especially when the snow melts or after heavy rainfall, the water plunges down with full force - a fascinating natural experience.

The hiking trail continues gently uphill below the Reichenstein (1,913 m), always alongside the babbling Zimitz stream. The stream is crossed twice before the valley opens up into a wide basin. Here, at 983 meters, lies the idyllic Zimitz-Alm, nestled in the alpine landscape.

For the way back, a circular hike via the Gößler Schwaiberalm is a good option. First head north for a short distance, then follow the markings to the right uphill on trail no. 213. Past the hunting lodge at 1,113 meters, the trail continues to the Gößler Schwaiberalm. After a kilometer downhill, the trail leads to Schachen Schwaiber before meeting a forest road. This winds its way downhill to the district of Schachen. There it continues for about 200 meters along the old mill to the forest road, which you follow to the left to reach the starting point again after a short time.

Proper backpacking makes many things easier:

pack heavy things first.
The water bottle should always be within easy reach in a side pocket.
All things that are often needed, such as sunglasses, camera or hiking map, belong on top.
An emergency kit including blister plaster belongs in every backpack and a clothing according to the "onion system" is always recommended!
