More information

  • The tour starts in the centre of Passail. From Passail, the route leads via Fladnitz an der Teichalm up to Sommeralm.
  • At the distinctive wind turbine on Sommeralm, it's worth stopping for your first photo break, offering stunning panoramic views.
  • The journey then continues along a winding road towards Gasen. In Gasen, the Stoani House is an ideal place for a short stop.
  • From there, the route passes through Birkfeld, Fischbach and Ratten, taking riders through the scenic landscapes of the Joglland-Waldheimat region.
  • In Filzmoos, you have the option to extend the tour with an additional loop via either the Pfaffensattel or the Feistritzsattel mountain pass.
  • The main route continues through St. Jakob im Walde, Waldbach-Mönichwald and St. Lorenzen am Wechsel. From there, it heads towards Vorau and the impressive Vorau Abbey before continuing to Pöllauberg.
  • The route then leads via Unterneuberg to Pöllau, before continuing through Rabenwald, Floing and Anger on its way back towards the Almenland Nature Park.
  • Before returning to Passail via Naintsch and Heilbrunn, a detour to the ruins of Waxenegg Castle is well worth the visit.

Optional Loop: Pfaffensattel

From Filzmoos, the route climbs via the Alpl Pass to Steinhaus am Semmering. It then continues over the winding Pfaffensattel Pass to Rettenegg. From there, the tour returns to Ratten, where it rejoins the main route.

Optional Loop: Feistritzsattel

Starting from Filzmoos, the route first heads via the Alpl Pass to Semmering. It then continues through Adlitzgraben, Kalte Rinne, Breitenstein and Gloggnitz towards Trattenbach.

The Feistritzsattel Pass is the scenic highlight of this optional loop. From Ratten, the route reconnects with the main tour.

The route is best enjoyed from spring through autumn. Given the many viewpoints and places to stop for refreshments, we recommend allowing plenty of time for breaks. Those who ride the route on weekdays will usually find the roads much quieter, allowing them to fully enjoy the ride.

Numerous establishments along the way invite you to take a relaxing break. Highly recommended stops include the Almwirtshaus Holdahütt'n, the Stoakoglerhütte, Café Fasching (famous for its homemade pastries), the Karl-Wirt (known for its Almenland trout), the Holzer Buschenschank, and the Gasthaus Kreuzwirt.

Riders wishing to take a more leisurely pace and split the tour over two days will find plenty of motorcycle-friendly accommodation along the route—ranging from cozy guesthouses and inns to hotels and campsites.
