An idyllic village, polished to perfection. Flower beds are in bloom, garden fences shine – and behind the well-kept facades lies horror. For Mechthild and Oswald pursue but one goal: victory in the competition “Our village should become more beautiful.” They will use any means necessary. Really any. With raven-black humor, biting dialogues, and grotesque situational comedy, Stephan Eckel crafts a macabre comedy about ambition, pressure to conform, and the abysses of bourgeois harmony. What starts off as a harmless provincial satire quickly develops into a ridiculous game of secrecy, paranoia, and culinary dubious feasts.
