Ausstellung in der Galerie Gölles in Fürstenfeld
The images by Gabi Trinkaus are collages. Ronald Kodritsch presents a cross-section of his work.
Gabi Trinkaus
Her distinctive collages are snippets from glossy and lifestyle magazines that she glues onto cardboard or canvases, or pins with pushpins in endless density.
In the series "Flowers," Gabi Trinkaus conducts a contemporary reflection on the art-historical tradition of the genre of still life flowers.
Upon closer inspection of the individual collage elements, one realizes that these compositions are anchored in the here and now. Not all the petals of these magnificent bouquets are what they seem; they consist of fragments of our consumer society, made of gold and glitter, flesh and vegetables, insects, hair, and body parts.
Ronald Kodritsch
The spirits that Kodritsch summoned oscillate pictorially between an almost childlike harmlessness reminiscent of the illustration from the 1966 children's book classic "The Little Ghost" by Otfried Preußler and ominous intermediaries, whose interpretation of their behavior is left to the imagination of the viewers.
Works from the extensive series "Bastards" and selected individual pieces and objects, such as the new aluminum sculpture "Branch with Ambitions," which also functions as a coat rack, showcase an illustrious and poetic cross-section.
