Kurpark Bad Aussee
Bad Aussee
In the center of Bad Aussee, the Kurpark uniquely combines nature, relaxation, and history. Around the geographical center of Austria, the Mercedes Star Bridge, the children's playground, the Kneipp facility, and shady spots under green trees invite you to enjoy a little break in the heart of the Ausseerland.
The Kurpark Bad Aussee is a green oasis of calm in the center of the spa town and invites you to take a relaxing break between nature and city life. Old chestnut trees provide pleasant shade on warm days, well-maintained green spaces and seating offer places to linger, and the rustling of the Traun flowing through the Kurpark accompanies a walk through the park area.
Due to its central location, the Kurpark is a popular meeting point for guests and locals, as well as an important event venue in Bad Aussee. Especially during the summer months, it regularly comes alive with music around the Pavilion and the Small Kurpark Stage. The traditional spa concerts bring the sounds of the brass bands of the Ausseerland to the park and provide the perfect conclusion to a successful summer day in the Ausseerland.
During the annual Ausseer summer nights, the Kurpark is also an important meeting point for evenings filled with music, regional cuisine, handicrafts, and various other program points. Additionally, various markets throughout the year provide variety. At the craft market, exhibitors showcase their handmade works, while during the Advent season, the Christkindl market brings a festive pre-Christmas atmosphere to the Ausseerland.
One special feature of the Kurpark is its location at the geographical center of Austria, which is commemorated today by the center stone. The history goes back to 1949 when the geographical center of Austria was determined as part of a competition. Different calculation methods led to Bad Aussee, and the result was later confirmed by an expert opinion from the University of Vienna. Forty years later, today's monument in the Kurpark was created based on a design by sculptor Erich Laufer. Just a few meters away is the statue of Archduke Johann, which commemorates his presence in the Ausseerland.
Another sight is the Mercedes star bridge at the confluence of the Altausseer and Grundlseer Traun. This extraordinary pedestrian bridge was built in 2005 on the occasion of the Styrian State Exhibition "Fools and Visionaries - with a Pinch of Salt." The ring-shaped bridge connects the three riverbanks and makes it a striking component of the Kurpark area.
The Mercedes star bridge also provides easy access to further leisure activities. On the opposite riverbank, the children's playground near the Kurpark offers various play equipment for climbing, sliding, and letting off steam. Right next door, the Kneipp facility Bäckerleite invites you to take a refreshing break. Various options for kneipping feet, arms, and knees combine exercise and relaxation right by the water.
Culturally, the Kurpark in Bad Aussee is also a great starting point, as the Via Artis Bad Aussee begins here, leading through the cultural center of the city following in the footsteps of significant personalities. As a special memento of a visit to the geographical center of Austria, a center certificate can also be obtained at the nearby tourist office Bad Aussee.
Thus, the Kurpark Bad Aussee combines relaxation, history, culture, and family-friendly leisure options, forming a versatile starting point to explore the center of Bad Aussee and the Ausseerland Salzkammergut.
