The Fraungruberweg in Bad Mitterndorf is an easy walking trail that runs along side roads and through an idyllic mixed forest. With gentle ascents and descents, the route follows in the historical footsteps of Hans Fraungruber and offers numerous benches to take a break. A relaxed circular route for nature lovers and those interested in culture.

It is best to plan the journey to Bad Mitterndorf with google.at/maps.
Free parking is available at the Grimminghalle. From there it is only a five-minute walk in a westerly direction past the schools to the town center. The hike begins opposite the church.

The hike starts in the center of the village between NKD and Reisinger bakery. The trail leads along the Kochalmstraße. After about 100 meters you cross the Salza, follow the path to the right and after about 500 meters you come back to the Kochalmstraße. Cross the Salza again and hike about 750 meters in the direction of Forsthütte Angern. At this hut the Fraungruberweg begins.

In serpentines a narrow path leads uphill for about 20 meters. Without any significant ascents and descents, you hike through a mixed forest. Again and again, benches invite you to take a break.

A short steep descent brings you back to the Kochalm road and the starting point.

Proper backpacking makes many things easier:

pack heavy things first.
The water bottle should always be within easy reach in a side pocket.
All things that are often needed, such as sunglasses, camera or hiking map, belong on top.
An emergency kit including blister plaster belongs in every backpack and a clothing according to the "onion system" is always recommended!
