Short hike to one of the most romantic places in the region. Partly on paved roads, but mostly on forest paths and trails.

The hike to Bärenmoos via the Himmelsleiter leads to one of the most beautiful and romantic places in Ausseerland. The route combines impressive viewpoints, such as the Dachsteinblick, with special places of power in the midst of nature. A narrow forest path leads through tranquil woodland landscapes before the hike ends at Café Berta. A perfect nature excursion for anyone who wants to enjoy relaxation and panoramic views.

In the center of Bad Aussee there are numerous parking spaces available for a fee.

This short but varied hike leads to one of the most romantic places in the region - the Bärenmoos. The route runs partly on asphalt roads, but mostly on forest paths and narrow trails. There are impressive viewpoints along the way, such as the Dachstein view and the Hofmannsthal lime tree, as well as special places of power in the midst of nature. Another highlight is the garden designed by Sepp Holzer around the “Oase” vacation complex.

The starting point of the hike is in Bad Aussee. From here, a narrow staircase path, the Himmelsleiter, leads up the slope to Obertressen. You then follow the asphalt road to the crossroads above the Oase - a vacation resort for families with disabilities.

Continue along Sigmund-Freud-Straße to the Dachsteinblick viewpoint. Here, at a bench with a wayside shrine, you can enjoy a magnificent view of the Dachstein glacier.

At this point, the path turns right and leads up into the forest. After a gentle ascent, you reach the Bärenmoos in a bend to the right - an idyllic place that radiates peace and strength. Take a break at the hut there to enjoy the natural surroundings.

A narrow forest path circles the Bärenmoos plain and finally leads to the next vantage point - the Hofmannsthal lime tree. The descent is via a gravel road, past several houses, to the end point of the hike - Café Berta. From here, the way back to the town of Bad Aussee is easy to find.

Proper backpacking makes many things easier:

pack heavy things first.
The water bottle should always be within easy reach in a side pocket.
All things that are often needed, such as sunglasses, camera or hiking map, belong on top.
An emergency kit including blister plaster belongs in every backpack and a clothing according to the "onion system" is always recommended!
