Trail no. 276 is the shortest option for a hike from the Tauplitzalm to Tauplitz.

This short and easy hike in Ausseerland leads from the Tauplitzalm back to Tauplitz via the old alpine trail (trail no. 276). After the start at the mountain station of the 4-seater chairlift, the trail leads past the mountain church and steadily downhill - first on gravel, then on asphalt - with beautiful views of the valley.

The journey to Tauplitz is best planned with google.at/maps. From there you can take the 4-seater chairlift to the high plateau.

By car, you can get to the Tauplitzalm from Bad Mitterndorf via the Tauplitzalm Alpine Road (toll).

There are plenty of free parking spaces available at the valley station of the 4-seater chairlift and on the Tauplitzalm.

This easy hike in Ausseerland offers a leisurely way to get from the Tauplitzalm back to the village center of Tauplitz. Trail no. 276 is mostly downhill, easy to walk and ideal for a relaxed half-day tour with wonderful views of the surrounding mountains.

The tour begins with a scenic ride on the Tauplitz 4-seater chairlift from the village center up to the sunny plateau of the Tauplitzalm. The hike starts at the mountain station.

Before heading down into the valley, we recommend a short visit to the nearby mountain church - its simple architecture and tranquillity make it a special place.

South of the church, the well-marked trail no. 276, known as the old Almweg, leads down into the valley. The first part of the descent is on a paved gravel path to below the middle station. From there, the trail descends on an asphalt road to the village center of Tauplitz.

Proper backpacking makes many things easier:

pack heavy things first.
The water bottle should always be within easy reach in a side pocket.
All things that are often needed, such as sunglasses, camera or hiking map, belong on top.
An emergency kit including blister plaster belongs in every backpack and a clothing according to the "onion system" is always recommended.

The old alpine trail is not only the shortest connection from the alpine pasture to the valley, but also a scenic alternative. For other easy and medium-difficulty hikes around the Tauplitzalm, it's worth taking a look at the free Ausseerland hiking map or visiting the hiking map store.

The bus stop is located directly at the valley station of the 4-seater chairlift. From Tauplitz train station you can reach the valley station in about 20 minutes on foot.
