S246 Familientour Bad Aussee - Ödensee

The family tour from Bad Aussee to Lake Ödensee is an easy but beautiful mountain bike family tour that is ideal for children, beginners, and leisure cyclists. The route follows the Kainischtraun river through beautiful natural countryside to the idyllic Ödensee lake and back again. This tour combines the experience of nature on two wheels with relaxed exercise and offers the perfect place to stop for refreshments at the Kohlröserlhütte hut.

The tour starts at Bad Aussee train station. From here, the tour leads along the paved Bahnhofstraße to the soccer field. Turn right there and follow Sießreithstraße for about 500 meters. At the Steinbrecher & Köberl carpentry shop, turn right again and immediately after that turn left onto the gravel bike path along the Kainischtraun.

Follow this on the right bank to the Bad Aussee recycling center. After the bridge, switch to the left bank and continue cycling along the Kainischtraun. After the Ausseerland fish farm, the path returns to asphalt and continues to Lake Ödensee.

There, you can circle the lake on a gravel road. Either stop for refreshments at the Genuss am See – Kohlröserlhütte or return directly via the gravel road to Kainischtraun. The return route follows the idyllic cycle path along the river again to the Steinbrecher & Köberl carpentry workshop. Continue via Sießreithstraße and Bahnhofstraße back to the starting point.

This route is also perfect for moderate e-biking off-road or leisurely recreational biking. It is an ideal option for a mountain bike vacation in the Ausseerland region.

Please note that trench-like washouts can occur on the gravel cycle path after heavy rainfall.
