6-lakes hiking on the Tauplitzalm
Tauplitz
The Tauplitzalm, with its six mountain lakes, is the largest high-altitude lake plateau in Europe.
From June to mid-August, the variety of flowers is truly fascinating. It begins with the snow rose bloom in spring and ends with the blooming of the alpine rose, which starts in early to mid-July, depending on the snow conditions and weather.
A visit to the Steirerseebankerl is definitely worth it. The view of the mountains and Steirersee is simply magical.
Also worth recommending is a visit to the small mountain church. This is unmistakably located near the mountain station of the 4-chairlift.
Whether 6-lake hike, mountain tours for the experienced, or Gamsblick via ferrata, there is something for everyone.
Even guests who prefer to enjoy will not miss out on the enchanting nature! Panoramic rides on the mini train take you to the most beautiful viewpoints on the Tauplitzalm.
The 6-Lake Hike is a dreamy hike to mountain lakes and huts in one of the most beautiful alpine regions in Europe.
At the beginning of the hike, you come to the Krallersee, a dark shimmering moor lake located at the foot of the Lawinenstein. The path continues to Großsee below the Schneiderkogel and on to the romantic Märchensee. On the way to the east, you hike to the Tauplitzsee.
Just before the Steirersee, a detour to the "Steirerseebankerl" is recommended. Here the magnificent view of the Sturzhahn and the blue-green shimmering Steirersee is very impressive. By the way, the Sturzhahn was once the climbing mountain of Heinrich Harrer.
After a short break, it continues past the Steirersee huts towards Steirersee, which can be hiked along the south or north shore (sure-footedness required!).
The last lake is the Schwarzensee, which, despite its name, is not black at all.
The return to the starting point goes from the Steirersee via meadow paths or the paved road on the high plateau.
The entire tour does not have to be hiked. You have the option to shorten the hike at any time.
Strollers and wheelchair users:
Due to the paved and gravel plateau road, short hikes on the Tauplitzalm are also suitable for strollers and wheelchair users!
