The wondrous music – "as if born from the nightingale ..."
Summer evenings at the Gabillon house in Grundlsee: In honor of the 100th birthday of Ingeborg Bachmann and Hans Werner Henze, this evening is dedicated to the extraordinary friendship and artistic connection of two influential personalities of the 20th century. Texts, notes, letters, essays, and poems provide insights into their thoughts and creations. Jovita Dermota will present the reading, while Anna Mittermeier will musically accompany the literary dialogue on the double bass.
“The friendship with you is the most important human relationship I have, and wherever our paths may encounter, it will be a celebration...”, writes Ingeborg Bachmann to Hans Werner Henze. This relationship is the longest in Bachmann's life, symbolizing security and home in a biography marked by storms, breaks, and constant new beginnings. Whenever music played a role in Ingeborg Bachmann's life, it became, particularly through the connection to Henze, a celebration. It wrapped around her protectively as an invisible framework of sound.
