In the east, the sun rises 2 – The book of paradise
Franziska Bronnen reads from "The Book of Paradise" and takes the audience into a poetic world full of memories, images, and thoughts. The literary reading is complemented by music from "In the Vineyard the Madonna" by Pierre-Dominique Ponnelle. With Anna Mittermeier on double bass, a harmonious dialogue between word and sound emerges, which shapes the evening in a special way.
What has always inspired the imagination of people, their ideas of paradise, their hopes and utopian designs of paradisiacal states, Itzik Manger turns into its opposite. The world is upside down. It is in paradise as it is on earth, just a bit worse. Two little angels live in the Jewish paradise. The book tells of their pranks and adventures.
In this work, millennia-old biblical traditions combine with Hasidic tales and the gentle irony of the storyteller. Itzik Manger, born in 1901 in Czernowitz, is one of the most significant Yiddish-speaking poets of the 20th century. He died in 1969 in Gedera/Israel.
Guests are expected on this summer evening in the Ausseerland for this literary reading, featuring Franziska Bronnen and music from "In the Vineyard the Madonna" by Pierre-Dominique Ponnelle as well as Anna Mittermeier on double bass, at the Gabillonhaus in Grundlsee.
