Rustic and cozy cabin at an elevation of 1,620 meters!
Experience nature on foot and take a deep breath. Nowhere is this better than at the Grazerhütte, in a magnificent scenic and sunny location.
The Grazerhütte, built in 1928 and run by globetrotter and Dalai Lama friend Heinrich Harrer from 1933 to 1934, is located directly at the 6 Lakes Hike on the Tauplitzalm. For ambitious and experienced guests, the Traweng is accessible via the normal path or via the Gamsblick Via Ferrata just behind the house.
For your refreshment, we offer typical cabin meals as well as freshly tapped beer, select Burgenland and Styrian wines, and a good schnapps. Choose to enjoy them either in the cozy, rustic cabin or on our sun terrace with panoramic views.
The cabin offers cozy bedding for up to 52 people - half in double, triple, quadruple, quintuple, or six-bed rooms and the other half in two dormitories accommodating 12 and 14 people, respectively. Fresh, soft bed linen is provided.
Additional comfort is provided by shared washrooms with showers - warm and free - and separate sinks for men and women, the solar-powered central heating, a ski room and boot dryer, toilets on every floor, and wifi throughout the cabin. An infrared cabin will revive tired bones.
For little hikers, there is a sandbox, toys and games, travel cribs, books, changing pads, high chairs, travel cots, etc.
In summer, guests enjoy staying right along the popular family-friendly 6 Lakes Hike, a scenic gem. The hike along six crystal-clear mountain lakes offers unforgettable views of the Grimming, the Sturzhahn (once the climbing mountain of Heinrich Harrer) and enchants with lush flora and fauna. For the sporty type, the Grazerhütte serves as an ideal starting point for hikes and alpine tours. Shortly after the Grazerhütte begins the ascent to the Traweng (1,981 meters). The "Gamsblick" Via Ferrata is in immediate proximity.
In winter, the Tauplitzalm is car-free, and vacationers find beautiful ski and snowshoe tours as well as a winter hiking trail right at the doorstep. The entire Tote Gebirge can be explored from here. The cross-country ski trail is located in a stunning position and is well-prepared - entry is possible directly at the Grazerhütte. Of course, the cabin is also suitable for alpine skiers. The 43 wonderful kilometers of slopes of the Tauplitzalm (with a children's area) can be reached on skis. Ski schools and rentals are available nearby.
For groups, a non-binding offer can be created upon request. The entire cabin can also be reserved exclusively. Due to its unique location, the Grazerhütte is very well suited for seminars and team-building activities. Casual atmosphere, outdoor options right at the doorstep: winter and summer.

The access is from Bad Mitterndorf via the Tauplitzalm Alpine Road. (toll required)
The access to the cabin is free in summer. It is possible to drive to the front door by car for overnight guests for loading and unloading. If necessary, we offer a transport service for people and luggage from the parking lot at the end of the Alpine Road to the cabin and back.
In winter, the car must be left at the parking lot on the Tauplitzalm. There is the option for a transport service for people/luggage to and from the parking lot to the cabin.
