Charming and cozy hut at 1,620 meters above sea level!
Experience nature on foot and take a deep breath. Nowhere is this better than at the Grazerhütte, situated in a wonderful location with great views and sunshine.
The Grazerhütte, built in 1928 and run from 1933 to 1934 by world citizen and friend of the Dalai Lama Heinrich Harrer, is located right on the 6 Lakes Hike on the Tauplitzalm. For ambitious and experienced guests, the Traweng can be accessed via the normal path or over the Gamsblick Climbing Path just behind the house.
For a snack, the Grazerhütte offers typical hut cuisine as well as freshly tapped beer, fine wines from Burgenland and Styria, and a good schnapps, either in the cozy, rustic hut or on the sun terrace with panoramic views.
The hut accommodates up to 52 guests with cozy beds. Half of the accommodations are in double, triple, quadruple, quintuple, or six-bed rooms, and the other half in two dormitories for 12 or 14 people. Fresh, soft bed linens are provided.
Additional comfort is provided by the communal bathrooms with warm and free showers as well as separate sinks for men and women. The central heating supported by solar panels, a ski room and boot drying room, restrooms on each floor, and Wi-Fi throughout the hut complete the offerings. An infrared cabin helps to revive tired bones.
For little hikers, there is also a sandbox, toys and games, books, travel cots, changing pads, and high chairs.
In summer, guests are located directly on the popular family-friendly 6 Lakes Hike, a scenic gem. The lakes hike along six crystal-clear mountain lakes offers unforgettable views of the Grimming, the Sturzhahn (once the climbing mountain of Heinrich Harrer) and enchants with lush flora and fauna. For sports enthusiasts, Grazerhütte serves as an ideal starting point for hikes and alpine tours. Just after the Grazerhütte, the ascent to Traweng (1,981 meters) begins. The "Gamsblick" climbing path is in the immediate vicinity.
In winter, the Tauplitzalm is car-free, and vacationers find beautiful skiing and snowshoeing tours as well as a winter hiking trail right at the doorstep. The entire Tote Gebirge can be explored from here. The cross-country ski trail is located in a dreamlike setting and is perfectly groomed. The entrance is directly at the Grazerhütte. Of course, the hut is also suitable for alpine skiers. The 43 beautiful kilometers of slopes at Tauplitzalm (with a children's area) are accessible by ski. Ski schools and rental services are nearby.
For groups, a non-binding offer will be gladly prepared. The entire hut can also be reserved exclusively. Due to its unique location, the Grazerhütte is perfectly suited for seminars and team-building activities. A relaxed atmosphere and outdoor opportunities are right at the doorstep: winter and summer.

The approach is via the Tauplitzalm Alpine Road from Bad Mitterndorf. (toll required)
Access to the hut is free in the summer. It is possible for overnight guests to drive up to the front door to load and unload. If necessary, we offer a shuttle for people and luggage from the parking lot at the end of the Alpine road to the hut and back.
In winter, the car must be left at the parking lot on the Tauplitzalm. There is the option for a shuttle service for people and luggage to and from the parking lot to the hut.
