Japan Creative Festival
Ceramics, paper cutting, and cork art, regional delicacies such as miso soup or roasted seaweed, and traditional Japanese music – in November, the Podenhaus in Bad Aussee transforms into a space for encounters and cultural exchange.
The "Austro-Japanese" host couple Gerhard Paradeiser and Juni Vojorna invite you to the first "Japan Creative Festival" at the Podenhaus, making Japanese culture accessible for house guests, locals, and visitors of the Ausseerland Salzkammergut.
Weekly changing art exhibitions in Juni Vojorna's studio focus on ceramics to kimonos, paper cutting, and Japanese calligraphy. For those interested, Juni offers a cork coaster painting workshop, where imaginative worlds are created on cork plates and other materials.
At the Japanese Café, typical local teas, sweets, and traditional matcha can be sampled daily. By pre-order, Juni and Gerhard Paradeiser serve a typical Japanese breakfast with rice, miso soup, grilled fish, or roasted seaweed.
As a highlight, a live performance by Tsugaru shamisen player Masato Shibata awaits on two evenings. The young musician has won numerous awards and accolades in his homeland, and has developed the sound of the traditional Japanese string instrument into a new form of expression.
