About us

Where the hearts of children and young people beat faster

Eisenerz and the Styrian Erzberg represent a 1300 year old vivid history which has been characterized by the mining and processing of iron ore. Visitors of this very special industrial and cultural area in an incomparable natural landscape can find monuments of the past, can visit historical events and mining representation places in the present and learn about some visions for the future.

From the „famous market“ to a modern industrial place.

Eight museums with excellent exhibitions within the market area and the impressive sights in and around the town create an information network that helps to deepen impressions and to get a better understanding for the characteristic of this unique cultural landscape.

Opening hours:

Open-air exhibition Oswaldirücken: May to October from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Tannery Salzer - Museum: May to October Wed-Sat from 10-12 and 14-16 and by arrangement
St. Oswald's Church Castle with Mesnerturm: Easter to Advent from 9.00 - dusk
Nativity Museum: From the 1st weekend of Advent to 6 January MI-SO 10.00 to 12.00 and 15.00 to 17.00 and by arrangement
Mineral Museum Ritzinger: April to December MO-SA (also on public holidays) 10.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. and by appointment
City Museum in the Old Town Hall: May to October DI-SA 10.00 to 16.00 and by appointment
Austrian Postal and Telegraph Museum: May-October MI-SA from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.
Shift Tower: by appointment only
