Ski tour to the Almkogel

The approximately 18 km long, moderately difficult ski tour to the Almkogel takes about 4½ hours and requires both fitness and technique. Starting from the top station of the Tauplitz 4-seater chairlift, the route leads past the Steirersee huts and Lake Steirersee through the Totes Gebirge to Lake Schwarzensee. The return follows the same route, with optional steeper descent variants – avalanche warnings must be observed.

The route is demanding but scenically magnificent, passing through the white winter landscape of the Totes Gebirge. The ascent runs across the alpine plateau, along Lake Steirersee, and through forested sections up to Lake Schwarzensee. The return follows the same route, with steeper descent options depending on snow conditions.
