S248 Bärnmoos

The new S248 Bärnmoos bike tour has been part of the Ausseerland tour network since 2024. This short mountain bike loop combines an idyllic place of power, a cozy place to stop for refreshments, and beautiful views of the surrounding landscape. Perfect for recreational bikers, beginners, or anyone looking for nature and relaxation while mountain biking in Altaussee.

The tour starts in Altaussee, along the shore of Lake Altaussee to the beach café. After a few meters, a gravel path branches off to the right, leading slightly uphill past the Bartlhof farmstead. About one kilometer further on, you reach Bärnmoos, a quiet natural spot and place of power – ideal for a short rest or refreshment (be sure to check the opening hours).

Then continue on a gravel path towards Obertressen. The path runs above meadows and houses through the forest to the paved road. Turn right there and continue on the paved road to the Oase Berta, before turning left and riding downhill to Bad Aussee.

In the town center, cross Chlumeckyplatz square and take the first exit at the roundabout. After about 200 meters, turn right onto Altausseer Straße. The combined footpath and cycle path leads to the middle school, where you cross the road. Continue through the district of Reitern before turning left onto Klaus-Maria-Brandauer-Promenade and following it to the starting point in Altaussee.
