The best way to get to Grundlsee/Gößl is to plan with google.at/maps.
In Gößl am Grundlsee there are numerous parking spaces available for a fee. The closest parking lot to the starting point is the parking lot Freizeitzentrum Gößl.

This leisurely hike in Ausseerland combines enjoyment of nature with historical and legendary insights. The circular trail leads through a shady forest path to the mysterious Toplitzsee and back to Gößl via a gravel road below the mighty Gößler Wand.

The hike starts opposite the Gößl leisure center on Lake Grundlsee. The marked trail leads along a beautiful forest path past the Ranftlmühle mill until you reach the memorial stone commemorating the meeting of Archduke Johann and Anna Plochl. The route is pleasant to walk and ideal for families and those seeking relaxation.

You soon reach the Toplitzsee, which is surrounded by steep rock faces. The lake is mystically nestled between forests and mountains and can only be reached by boat (Grundlsee boat trip, May to October). There is no circular route around the lake.

The Toplitzsee is not only a scenic jewel, but also a place of many legends. Time and again, it has lured expeditions into its depths. Rumor has it that art objects and gold were sunk there towards the end of the Second World War. To this day, there is still speculation about the treasures in the lake's mud.

After a rest at the fisherman's hut, the way back leads along the gravel road below the imposing Gößler Wand back to the village of Gößl and the starting point.
