The Ödensee, with a surface area of 20 hectares, is one of the smaller lakes in the Salzkammergut. It is however, a popular spot for swimming in summer.
The Ödensee is a natural lake, more precisely a forest moor lake, in the Salzkammergut region. It is located in the municipality area of Pichl-Kainisch in Styria at 776 meters above sea level and has a maximum depth of about 19 meters. A children's playground and a bathing beach invite you to an unforgettable day at the lake.
Dogs are welcome at the Ödensee and along the circular hiking trail. However, swimming in the lake is strictly prohibited to protect a rare species of crayfish. For cooling off, dogs can use the nearby drainage creek.
At the Ödensee and at the experience points fish farming Kainisch, old arm Riedlbach, Ödensee high moor, peat extraction Kainischmoos, karst springs Strumern, geology, flowers, transitional moor, forest, and water, visitors learn about all the beauties and treasures of nature surrounding the natural experience of the Ödensee.
