The Lawinenstein is a balcony-like lookout mountain with a good view over the countryside around Bad Mitterndorf on the one hand and the Grundlsee area on the other.

On the mountainside there are several gorges and a weather hole that leads almost vertically down into the earth. If someone throws a stone into it, a heavy thunderstorm is supposed to break out on the same day, according to the legend.
