With a water area of around 6.2 hectares, the Großsee is one of the largest bodies of water on the high plateau of Tauplitzalm and is the second largest lake in the area. The lake extends in an east-west direction over about 440 meters and reaches a maximum width of around 190 meters.
In the midst of the alpine landscape, the Großsee forms a distinctive part of the elevated lake plateau.
