Enjoy the magnificent view of the surrounding mountains and the snow-sure cross-country ski trails at about 1600 meters above sea level on the high plateau of the Tauplitzalm.
The cross-country trails in the village of Tauplitz are located at about 900 meters above sea level.

Especially diverse is the cross-country skiing region of Bad Mitterndorf - Tauplitz/Tauplitzalm. Here, you can choose between the sporty high-altitude trails on the Tauplitzalm and somewhat easier trails in the valley. Gentle winter landscapes and slightly hilly terrain in the valley alternate with snow-safe trails on the Alm . Professionals also appreciate this, and it often happens that you can observe various national teams during training in the region.
Additionally, there is a wide range of pampering offerings for cross-country skiers, spanning from warm hospitality to soothing relaxation in the warm thermal water at the GrimmingTherme. After a round of cross-country skiing outdoors, the cozy warmth is just what you need!
One thing right from the start: This cross-country skiing region is something very special! As part of the "Styria Salzkammergut Trails", it impresses with a network of trails that is over 130 kilometers long.
Operating Hours
Daily, when snow conditions are suitable, from 08:30 AM to 05:00 PM.
Outside of operating hours, the use of the cross-country ski trails is prohibited due to grooming work!

- From Bad Mitterndorf train station, the Krungl trail (M2) is in the immediate vicinity.
- From Tauplitz train station, the Kulm trail (M1) is nearby.
- From Bad Mitterndorf Heilbrunn train station, the Neuhofen trail (M3) is the closest.

The ascents and descents can be used once daily.

Is there a possibility for luggage storage in Bad Mitterndorf?
- Luggage storage
There is no luggage storage at the train stations. The information office in Tauplitz and Bad Mitterndorf offers luggage storage during office hours in the information offices for 4.00 euros per piece of luggage.
- Lockers at the Tauplitzalm: Practical, Safe, and Sustainable
Starting from the winter season 2024/2025, you have the option to securely and free of charge store your personal belongings at the Tauplitzalm. Right at the parking lot on the Alm, you can conveniently store your bags, backpacks, and other items before heading to the cross-country ski trails. For the locker, you will need a 2.00-euro coin as a deposit.
Especially practical: The cross-country ticket for 1 day including ascent includes a one-time free ascent and descent with the bus of the Alpine road or with the 4-seater chair lift of the Tauplitz cable cars. Take the opportunity to reach the Alm sustainably and stress-free while also benefiting from our new locker service.
