The Resonance String Quartet interprets Franz Schubert's “Death and the Maiden” at Toplitzsee – an impressive concert experience in a unique natural setting.
In case of bad weather, the concert will be moved to the village church in Gößl.
In the unique setting of the Toplitzsee, in the district of Grundlsee, Franz Schubert's famous string quartet “Death and the Maiden” resonates on a traditional flatboat, interpreted by the Resonanz String Quartet.
Franz Schubert's string quartet “Death and the Maiden” addresses a motif that has shaped art history for centuries: the encounter of a young woman with personified Death. This theme became well-known through the poem by Matthias Claudius, Schubert's composition, and the subsequent string quartet, as well as through Egon Schiele's painting of the same name.
The extraordinary combination of music, water, and landscape promises an atmospheric concert experience.
