Tauplitzer childrens krampusspiel
The already traditional Children's Krampus Play is performed by local children with much heart and enthusiasm.
In front of the Village Hall Tauplitz this atmospheric custom comes to life and invites you to experience living tradition, pre-Christmas atmosphere and true community up close.
The adult Nikolospiel takes place annually on December 5.
A few days before this rustic Jedermann play, the youth of the village also performs this eerie play. The texts of this play are over 100 years old and have retained their original wording to this day. Various stories are told, such as that of the beggar, who reports his misdeeds to the pastor, yet shows no remorse. Then, Death appears in the form of the Grim Reaper and brings him to the ground.
The Bartl comes with a basket full of sweets for the children and wears a mask that smiles from all sides. Hell's prince Lucifer carries a trident and is held by two smaller Krampuses. The marriage devil reports on the marriages he has disrupted.
The Saint Nicholas is accompanied by an angel and questions the children about the Bible, rewarding correct answers with fruit, nuts, and sweets.
One should pay special attention to Schmied and Habergeiß, as these figures only have nonsense in their heads.
