The nature park municipality is divided into 3 cadastral municipalities with the villages Großsölk, Kleinsölk and St. Nikolai and has a size of 288.25 km², the number of inhabitants is currently 1,525.

The municipality of Sölk belongs to the political district of Liezen and the court district of Schladming. It was formed by the merger of the former municipalities of Großsölk, Kleinsölk and St. Nikolai as part of the Styrian structural reform of the municipality and is the third largest municipality in Styria (after Mariazell and Admont) in terms of area.

The nature park community is divided into 3 cadastral communities with the villages Großsölk, Kleinsölk and St. Nikolai and has a size of 288.25 km², the number of inhabitants is currently 1,525.
