The Sölktäler valleys are characterized by picturesque mountain villages, gentle alpine pastures, wild alpine streams and imposing peaks. Young explorers and experienced mountaineers all find what they are looking for here in the Sölktäler. Surrounding the Grosser Knallstein, elevation 2599 m, are numerous other scenic summits. Whether shorter, family-friendly hikes or challenging mountaineering tours with stages that even require some scrambling – the Sölktäler region has boundless variety in store for everyone. Also including, incidentally, hiking stages on the “From Glacier to Wine” route. From the very first breath you take here, you will immediately sense just how healthy and pure the air in this nature park is. Incidentally, the name “Sölk” originally meant “flowing water”.

As soon as Mother Nature has begun her winter sleep, stillness returns to the Sölktäler. Which also means that the perfect time for ski touring, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing has arrived. Enjoy the snowy winter forest, the deep-blue sky, the sparkling ice crystals along the streams and the crunch of snow beneath your feet. At the stands of the Advent market, the fragrances of fresh gingerbread, roasted chestnuts and mulled wine mingle in the air. Winter holidays as gentle as they could possibly be.
