Brandalm

Idyllically located, the Brandalm sits at just under 1,600 m above sea level, directly along the ski and hiking trail in the midst of the Ramsau alpine area at the foot of the Dachstein. The splendid mountain backdrop and the breathtaking view of the southern faces of the Dachstein and the opposing Schladminger Tauern invite you to linger on our sun terrace. If it is cooler outside, the cozy tiled stove and warm hospitality in our homely parlor will provide warmth, accompanied by authentic folk music.

Our alpine lodge is located directly at the foot of the Dachstein, in the heart of our alpine area. This extends over a vast, partially pastured area and has been in the family for generations. Due to the deterioration of the old cheese hut, father Fritz Schrempf decided in 1980 to build a new – initially small operational alpine lodge. Together with his wife Erika and their three children, great emphasis has always been placed on tradition and authentic folk music. Over time, some smaller renovations and extensions have been made, with the largest renovation taking place in 2007. In 2012, the ownership of the alpine lodge passed to son Philipp Schrempf, and still in the same year, construction began on the Dachstein Kircherl together with father Fritz. It was ecumenically consecrated in 2014. The mountaineer memorial, maintained by the Ramsau mountain rescue service, commemorates mountaineers who have fallen since 1879 in the Dachstein region.

At the Brandalm, we serve our guests regional specialties and authentic dishes based on traditional recipes, ranging from hearty beef soup to dumplings with real Steirerkas, as well as homemade strudel and traditional donuts in October.

As passionate alpine and farmers, as well as nature lovers, we spoil our guests with a hearty snack featuring traditional delicacies and products from our own organic farm – you can truly taste the difference.

No matter whether from the parking lot, hiking starting point Edelbrunn, or from the bus parking lot Türlwandhütte.
The alpine round offers experiences even in bad weather. Easy all-weather alpine walk over lush alpine meadows, through beautiful larch forests and spectacular mountain panoramas.
A quick ascent to Brandriedel offers a splendid view down into the Ramsau, the Dachstein, and the Schladminger Tauern.
From Brandriedel back via the Austria hut to the Brandalm and then along the wide 5-hut trail back to Hotel Türlwand or to the hiking starting point Edelbrunn.

Hearty, crispy & substantial or rather sweet & fluffy – donuts can be found in the Schladming-Dachstein region in various types. When autumn arrives and the larches at the foot of the Dachstein slowly start to change color, not only does this natural spectacle attract many hikers to Ramsau am Dachstein, but a culinary highlight in October is the donut weeks at the Brandalm.
