Many of the mountain lakes and alpine pastures can be reached via easy and relatively short hikes. Among the most beautiful hikes in the Schladming-Dachstein region are certainly the high trails through the Schladminger Tauern – though they also come with their own demands. Surefootedness, a good basic level of fitness, a head for heights, and proper equipment are essential to experience the mountains at their best.

Along the Schladminger Tauern High Trail, you’ll spend 7 days hiking through the heart of the Schladminger Tauern. You’ll pass by crumbling huts and the stone foundations of miners’ lodgings – silent witnesses of the region’s historic mining past. Untouched mountain streams with roaring waterfalls and countless small tributaries from the Tauern’s spring-fed waterscape add to the magic of this hike. The 7-day route covers over 70 km and can be extended with various alternative routes.
