The market town of Öblarn is located in the heart of the Schladming-Dachstein adventure region and combines vibrant tradition with a high quality of life. Covering an area of 70.17 km², around 2,020 residents shape an active and close-knit community. More than 40 clubs and associations play a key role in social life, spanning sports, culture, traditions, and social engagement.

Öblarn is especially renowned for the Öblarn Folk Theatre Festival, held every five years, where over 300 amateur actors transform the entire town into a stage – making it the largest amateur theatre production in the Alpine region. Cultural highlights also include the Ku:L Art and Cultural Centre and the modern ÖHA – Öblarn House for All.
