Salzstiegl - Speikkogel

Open
Quick summit climb with a magnificent view from the Salzstiegelhaus (1543m) to the Speikkogel (1993m).
From the Salzstiegelhaus, Murtal/ Styria in a southwesterly direction on trail 505, the trail goes moderately uphill into the forest. Slowly the forest thins out and you reach the Hahnsattel (1713m). Now you follow the mark 520 up the first real ascent. After about 1 ½ hours you reach the Speikkogel via the comfortable mossy alpine pasture ground. In good weather you can see the Seetaler Alps with the Zirbitzkogel from there.

Afterwards, you return to the Salzstiegelhaus via the same path.

The trail from Speikkogel to Salzstiegelhaus is part of the 15th stage of the Styrian long-distance hiking trail "From Glacier to Wine".

Trail conditions: forest trail, meadow trail, marked trails
