This varied MTB tour starts at the Stainach municipal office and leads over gently rolling terrain to Maitschern, before the climb to the Spechtenseehütte begins. A short detour to the idyllic Spechtensee is well worth it, before returning to the valley through the shady Wörschach forest. The route is ideal for active families and offers a great mix of climbing and descending.

From Salzburg, take the B150 and B160 to the A10 Tauern motorway towards Graz/Villach.
At exit 63 Altenmarkt, take the B320 towards Liezen/Schladming and follow it.
At Stainach, take the exit towards Salzburger Straße and continue to the main square in Stainach-Pürgg.
From Graz, take the B67 and the A9/E57 towards Salzburg and exit onto the B320 at Selzthal.
Follow the B320 towards Liezen and continue to Stainach.
Take the Stainach exit and follow Grazerstraße to the main square in Stainach-Pürgg.
You start at the municipal office in Stainach, where paid parking is available, and initially cycle eastwards. The gently undulating route takes you through Wörschach to the district of Maitschern. There, turn left and follow the route towards Aicherlsteinweg.
This is where the climb begins. Follow Aicherlsteinweg uphill to Spechtenseehütte. Once at the top, it is worth taking a short detour to nearby Lake Spechtensee. It is a peaceful and idyllic place surrounded by nature.
The descent through Wörschachwald then begins. Shady paths lead mostly downhill until you pass beneath the B145 road and reach Klachau.
From there, the route continues towards Untergrimming. This section is flat and relaxed. After crossing the B145 once again, you return to Stainach via Unterburg and arrive back at your starting point.
- Plan breaks: Along the route, many huts and inns invite you to stop for a relaxing break and enjoy regional specialties.
- E-mountain bike: With electric support, the tour is also suitable for less experienced bikers. There are several e-bike charging stations along the route. Their locations can be seen on the map and in the elevation profile, making it easy to plan your tour and possible charging stops.
From there, it’s about a 10-minute walk via Bahnhofstraße and the main square to the center of Stainach-Pürgg.
From Graz, take the InterRegio (IR) towards Innsbruck to Stainach-Irdning station.
