This challenging tour starts at the valley station of Hauser Kaibling, passes through the center of Haus, and then steadily climbs uphill via Oberhaus to the summit. After more than 1000 meters of elevation gain, you are rewarded with a breathtaking panoramic view of the Dachstein, the Grimming, and the Ennstal. The long descent leads through the Gumpental to the idyllic Styrian Bodensee and then gently back to the valley station – ideal for ambitious mountain bikers.
MTB signage is being further improved
Throughout 2026, we continue to improve and standardize our MTB signage system. As part of this process, existing signposts are being adjusted, locations are being optimized, and some route numbers are being updated.
During this transition period, there may occasionally be minor differences in the signage on site. Thank you for your understanding – these improvements will create a clearer and more user-friendly guidance system for your bike experience.
Lock away
The Bodensee – Gumpental section will be fully closed from Monday, June 22, for two weeks.
The closure is necessary due to forestry operations. A cable system for timber transport will be installed and operated throughout the area. Entering or riding through the closed section is extremely dangerous and may be life-threatening.
All visitors are requested to strictly observe the closure and avoid the area. Thank you for your understanding.

More information
From Graz: Follow the A9 to Liezen. There, take the B320 and continue in the direction of Schladming. Leave the road at the exit "Hauser Kaibling".
The tour starts at the valley station of Hauser Kaibling (Sport Hauser Kaibling) and first leads into the center of Haus. Here, the long climb to Oberhaus begins. From there, the route continues on a well-maintained gravel path all the way to the summit. Those who conquer the more than 1000 meters of elevation gain are rewarded with a fantastic view of the Dachstein, the Grimming, and the Ennstal. At the top, several guesthouses invite you to take a well-deserved break.
Afterwards, the long descent through the Gumpental leads down to the Styrian Bodensee. From there, the route continues on a paved road towards Ruperting and finally gently downhill back to the starting point at the valley station. This tour offers both athletic challenges and impressive views.
- Plan breaks: Along the route, many huts and inns invite you to stop for a relaxing break and enjoy regional specialties.
- E-mountain bike: With electric support, the tour is also suitable for less experienced bikers. There are several e-bike charging stations along the route. Their locations can be seen on the map and in the elevation profile, making it easy to plan your tour and possible charging stops.
