The Dachstein-Runde is a challenging tour for road bike and gravel bike enthusiasts. With an impressive 165 kilometers and around 2,050 meters of elevation gain, it is a true highlight for athletic riders. The route leads along fascinating panoramas around the Dachstein and offers an unforgettable riding experience.

The tour starts at the Planai valley station in Schladming and initially follows the Ennsradweg (a short section on a well-maintained gravel road) via the Pichl swimming lake. There, the first ascent to Forstau begins, which is rewarded with a descent to Radstadt. The route continues through Altenmarkt and Eben im Pongau.

Via St. Martin am Tennengebirge you reach Annaberg and later turn right onto the Leitenhaus-Straße, which runs along the Lammer. Back on the B166, an ascent to Russbachsaag follows, followed by a fast descent to Gosau.

Here the route continues on the Vordertalstraße before turning right towards Hallstatt. A highlight is the ride through the pedestrian zone in Hallstatt, where a short coffee stop is well worth it. The route continues along Lake Hallstatt to Obertraun. The Koppenpass finally leads to Bad Aussee.

From Bad Aussee you cross the Radlingpass and ride via Obersdorf to Bad Mitterndorf. Passing the impressive Kulm ski jump, the route goes to Tauplitz and continues in a rapid descent to Trautenfels.

From there, the route follows the railway tracks towards Niederöblarn and via Stein an der Enns, Pruggern, Assach and Weißenbach back to Haus im Ennstal and finally to the starting point in Schladming.

Highlights along the route:

  • Panoramic views: Fascinating views of the Dachstein, the Tennengebirge and the Schladminger Tauern.
  • Hallstatt: The historic pedestrian zone is perfect for a break.
  • Koppenpass and Radlingpass: Challenging climbs rewarded with scenic diversity.
