Mountain Beekeeping Schladming

The bees are the only living beings that do not waste or even misuse nature's treasures. On the contrary, by producing high-quality bee products and through the invaluable value of their comprehensive pollination services, they give back their share to the environment more than completely, and have been doing so for millions of years.

The life of the honeybee in the mountain town of Schladming, nestled in the mountains between Dachstein and Schladminger Tauern, is fundamentally different from some other regions in Styria. 

Our small Mountain Beekeeping Schladming is operated at two locations, in Schladming and in Rohrmoos Obertal.

Bee Site Schladming

In Schladming, the proximity to the blooming parks is a great advantage. The local authorities are making great efforts to design the facilities bee-friendly. In 2019, Schladming was already awarded the title of “most beautiful town” for the 4th consecutive time in the Styria floral decoration competition.

Bee Site Rohrmoos/Obertal

In Obertal, the surrounding area is characterized by small-scale agriculture, where the meadows are mowed only twice a year. Here, the connection to nature is dominant and any issues with pesticides are unknown to us.

“…let’s go see the bees”

For interested individuals of all ages, guided tours are offered under the motto “...let’s go see the bees,” aiming to convey interesting facts about the fascinating world of honeybees. The bee-free observation hive offers deep insights into the way of life of one of the most amazing creatures we know. In the display hive, you can admire the perfectly organized superorganism up close during the summer months. Upon request, the technical facilities of beekeeping are also available for viewing.

Our selection includes:

from Schladming and Rohrmoos/Obertal and are available for purchase depending on availability.

Sales take place directly at our residential address at Berggasse 62 in Schladming, conveniently located between the main square, Planaistadion, and the entrance to the Talbachklamm, and therefore easily accessible on foot. A parking space is gladly available for shopping if needed.

Products can also be pre-ordered and will be ready for handover at the agreed time. 

As a regional special feature, a contactless purchase of the unprocessed, valuable bee products is ensured at any time through the freely accessible  “Self-Service Honey Box”. Take a little vacation home for yourself and your loved ones!
