Beautiful Hikes at the Foot of the Dachstein South Face
The Dachsteinstraße was built in 1961 to connect Ramsau with the Alpine pastures at the foot of Styria’s highest mountain - the Dachstein. The mountain road winds its way along 6.3 km up to an altitude of 1.700 m where you will find the bottom station of the Dachstein Gondola. From there, you can experience breath-taking scenery with stunning views across the Schladminger Tauern, the Bischofsmütze, the Rötelstein, and the impressive southern walls of the Dachstein massif.
By car, motorbike, or public transport, the Dachsteinstraße is the starting point of many walking tours through the expansive Alpine pastures with its rustic mountain huts and, of course, the main feature: the Dachstein.
