STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® DACH-Finale 2026

Extreme sports pure in Styria: On August 29 and 30, 2026 the best competitive lumberjacks from Austria, Germany, and Switzerland will face off. The grand finale of the STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® DACH-Series will be held in Schladming.

STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® is an international competition series in competitive logging, in which both men and women participate. Its roots lie in Australia and New Zealand, Canada, and the USA. In national and international competitions, athletes compete in up to three axe and three saw disciplines. They must either chop through logs or saw off discs, and they must do this as quickly as possible. Springboard, Underhand Chop, and Standing Block Chop are part of the classic axe competitions. In the Single Buck (handsaw), the Stock Saw (standard chainsaw), and the Hot Saw (up to 80 HP tuned chainsaw), the athletes compete with saws for best times.

The grand finale in Schladming will take place at Wetzlarerplatz with free admission. Spectators can look forward to exciting duels, where the DACH as well as the three national champions in the categories of Pro, Rookie, and Women will be determined. Additionally, spots for the World Championship at the end of October in Germany will be awarded.

Last year, Armin Kugler from Alt Nagelberg (Lower Austria) took second place. The 11-time Austrian state champion will also enter this year's competitions as a favorite. His competitors will be determined in three semifinals in Germany and Switzerland.

Among the women, Juliana Einfalt (Langschlag/Lower Austria) also has a good chance at the title. The reigning Austrian champion will participate in June in the first STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® World Championship for Women in Budapest. In Schladming, she will be joined by her countrywoman Johanna Loretz (Feldkirch/Vorarlberg).

Austria also has a hot prospect in the youth category. Simon Oberzaucher (Ferndorf/Carinthia) is the reigning Austrian youth champion. He will also travel to Budapest in June to compete with young athletes from Europe and overseas.
