Barbara celebration of the Öblarn mining association

Fr., 04.12.2026 from 10:00 o'clock

On December 4, the feast day of Saint Barbara, traditional so-called Barbara branches are cut and placed in a vase with water. Cherry branches are often used for this purpose, but other fruit trees are also suitable. The local heritage association of Öblarn distributes these in the morning at the main square in Öblarn.

With a bit of luck, the buds will open by Christmas Eve. The blossoms in the middle of winter symbolically represent new life, hope, and happiness in the coming year.

As part of the event, Barbara branches will be distributed so that you can carry on this special Advent tradition at home.
