Information
The Kaltenbachalm is located at about 1600m at the foot of the Sölkpass, as well as the 3 Kaltenbach lakes, and is a starting point for numerous hiking destinations for the whole family. We (the Fuchs family, Manuela and Andreas) traditionally manage the Kaltenbachalm agriculturally during the summer months (mid June to mid September)
Hiking Destinations:
Sölkpass (1790m), Römerweg (Ice Age educational trail), Hornfeldspitze (2277m), Nageleck (2155m), 3 Kaltenbach lakes, Etrachboden (approx. 2100m), Schafspitze (2310m), Deneck (2433m)
Management:
In summer [mid June to mid September] 30 to 40 head of cattle graze there, including 8 dairy cows. The grazing area extends up to the Sölkpass and to the upper Kaltenbach lake.
Alpine Specialties:
We process the milk into butter, buttermilk, curd, and five types of cheese [Ennstaler & Murtaler Styrian cheese, buttermilk curd spread, fresh cheese, Kaltenbach cheese]. These alpine specialties can be enjoyed with homemade farmhouse bread or taken home. If you are tired after snacking or from the home-distilled schnapps, there is accommodation available for a maximum of 10 people. We have a large room for 6 to 7 people in the “Trempl” (alpine barn), right next to the hay storage and for 3 people in a small room above the alpine dairy.

<p>Conditions</p>
We have a private alpine hut at the Sölkpass which we farm and manage during summer by early June to late September.
One room for 7 persons with a beautiful view of the mountains of Sölktäler Naturepark; one room für 3 persons; family friendly, near the forest, fresh air, fresh water, Washing facility at the creek or at the guest toilet, we are right at the hiking trail with a lots of hiking possibilities; upon request you can make your own butter, You can accompany us to count and drive our cattle, we can tell you something about how to make our different kinds of cheese
We speak English & German, we have car parking lots and we accept cash payment
During your stay we can offer farm products (milk from our cows, selfmade butter, or cheese) for additional charge.
We are sorry that we have no kitchen for guests.
Pets are allowed (fee 5.00 €/day)
