The Spitzenhof

The majestic Almmauer wall, the Stangl-Bacherl stream and lush green meadows surround our farm. It's easy to relax in this setting. What stories would these old walls tell if they could speak? The Spitzenhof was built around 800 years ago, almost at the same time as our local church, St. Bartholomäus. It was first mentioned in the records of Admont Abbey in 1437 as “Meyer vom Spitzenhof”. It has probably seen a lot over the centuries.

Lots of mooing and bleating

Our cows turn the lush grass of the surrounding pastures into fresh milk. But don't be surprised if you hear bleating. We also have a large herd of Merino sheep on our farm. In and around the barn, you will also find chickens, cats and our farm dog Freya. Freya, the old lady, loves to be petted.

Thanks to our son, Alexander Junior, honey bees have also found a home with us. Alex has been enthusiastically involved in beekeeping since 2023 and looks after two bee colonies. He is supported in this by the chairman of the local beekeepers' association.

Encounters on the farm

We and our animals are open to visitors in the barn. Anyone who feels like it is welcome to help out – as long as you leave us a little work to do. Because we know the animals and the barn building well, and because your safety is important to us, we ask you to follow a few rules when visiting the barn. We will discuss these with you in advance.

Do you enjoy hiking? Then why not visit the Stanglalm at 850 m or the Grasbergalm at 1,600 m above sea level. Both alpine pastures belong to our farm. The Schreier spring, one of the main sources of Vienna's water supply, rises beneath the alpine pasture of the Grasbergalm.
