Die Minoritenkirche

Bruck an der Mur

The baroque-style Gothic building from the 13th century is visible from afar at the end of the pedestrian zone (Mittergasse). Simple on the outside, in keeping with the mendicant order, the interior of the church contains remarkable frescoes of high artistic quality from around 1400.

On the north wall of the nave there are remains of an originally 20 meter long strip of images depicting the encounter, procession and adoration of the Magi. On the south side of the nave one discovers a large picture field depicting Saint Achatius and Martyr.

In the middle of the monumental high altar is the Madonna from around 1480, above in the excerpt God the Father and on the sides male saints.

Another treasure is the altarpiece with St. Anthony of Padua by Hans Adam Weißenkircher around 1690.

The Minorite Church is also the starting point of the literature trail on the Brucker Schlossberg.

Note: The church can generally only be visited on guided tours, but is freely accessible during the day in the summer months.
