The Salzkammergut cross-country trails in Tauplitz/Tauplitzalm, Bad Mitterndorf and Pichl-Kainisch form one of the largest cross-country skiing regions in the Alps, stretching from the Kulm ski jump to Lake Ödensee.
The trails are well maintained and offer a variety of difficulty levels.
Advance ticket sales for the upcoming cross-country skiing season will begin at the end of October 2026. The exact date will be announced in the cross-country skiing newsletter.

The wide, fog-free basin offers cross-country skiers ideal terrain with a connected network of cross-country trails currently covering 160 km of classic and skating trails. The high-altitude trails on the Tauplitzalm are a particular treat. Even the professionals in the Nordic disciplines train here regularly. Due to their location at around 1,600 m, the trails are guaranteed to have snow until April. In addition, there is a magnificent view of the Dachstein, Grimming and Tote Gebirge mountains.
