The name “Gamsblick” says it all: the 200-metre-long climb with difficulty level C requires strength, surefootedness and mountain experience. On the eastern face of the 1,981-metre-high Traweng, the route leads over steep passages with magnificent views down into the valley. The effort is rewarded with a breathtaking 360-degree panorama of the surrounding peaks of the Totes Gebirge and the Tauplitzalm lake plateau.
Start at the mountain station of the 4-seater chairlift or at the parking lot on the Tauplitzalm. The approach leads in an easterly direction across flowering alpine meadows, past several lakes, to the "Steirerseebankerl". There the path branches off to the left towards Steirertor. It is worth taking a short break at the bench with a view of the Steirersee before the last section to the start begins.
The via ferrata itself is varied, with solid protection and impressive views. After the summit experience, the descent is via the marked normal route back to the valley.
Important note: The tour is only recommended in dry weather. Rain significantly increases the risk of slipping and makes the route very dangerous.
Climbing in Ausseerland offers a challenging tour for experienced ferratisti with the "Gamsblick" climb, embedded in the impressive nature of the Ausseerland climbing areas. Perfect for anyone who wants to combine a climbing vacation in Ausseerland with a sporting challenge and scenic enjoyment.
