A journey by train or bus – from the other federal states of Austria as well as from neighbouring countries such as Germany, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary or Italy – is very relaxed and comfortable. Please note: A toll sticker ("Vignette") is required on all Austrian motorways. Since 2018, it's also available in digital form. You can get it online, at automobile clubs, petrol stations and at border crossing points. A 10-day Vignette is suitable for short holidays. For longer or more frequent visits to Styria (and Austria in general), the two-month or one-year vignette is recommended.
If you want to travel without a car, you can take advantage of Styria's extensive public transport network. Mobility options range from buses, trains and trams to taxis and car sharing.
