Alpineherd drive on the Hochegg - Schönberg/Lachtal

The Almabtrieb in Lachtal is one of the largest autumn events in Styria, particularly in the Murau region. This long-standing tradition, which takes place on the last Saturday in September, involves driving the animals down from the lush Alpine pastures into the valley to spend the winter there.

Program
09:30 AM: Arrival of the decorated alpine animals at Hochegg. The alpine farmers with their animals will be welcomed by the Schönberg-Lachtal music association.
11:30 AM: Thanksgiving service at the Hurnus Chapel with a brass group from the music association.
12:00 PM: Tapping of the beer
02:00 PM: Large raffle for valuable prizes: 1 calf, 1 pig, 1 sheep, pedal tractor, and many other beautiful prizes.
