Strechau - multifaceted historical setting: the home of the historical archive of STEYR-DAIMLER-PUCH AG as well as the unique collection of Steyr passenger cars.
The name Strechau was first mentioned in 1074. The partly Romanesque, partly Gothic defence system was rebuilt under the House of Hoffman, leader of the Styrian Protestant estates, in the middle of the 16th century to form a Renaissance castle. The Italian-looking inner courtyard and the Mannerist ceiling painting (1579) of the "Hoffman study" prove this impressively.
