Historic towns, culture and cuisine

The River Mur Cycle Trail is the perfect choice if you don't want to have to decide between cycling, tastings and cultural highlights. There are countless historic towns with cultural treasures and plenty of opportunities to take a break and enjoy culinary delights in the green outdoors.

Cuisine meets culture: The River Mur Cycle Trail threads historic towns together like pearls on a necklace. In addition to regional cuisine, the towns on the River Mur Cycle Trail also feature impressive architecture, which ranges from the mediaeval to the modern.

These towns also reveal Styria's lively history at the intersection of East and West, while the colourful townscapes are home to old architecture and preserved monuments. There are a wealth of unique towns waiting for you to discover - either independently or as part of a tour.

An outdoor break: If you want a bit of a change, locals recommend the green landscapes along the River Mur, the lifeline of Styria. The journey along the Mur stretches from the protected countryside of the high Alpine region to the art and cultural gardens in the urban centres and onward to vineyard slopes.
